A very kind lady brought this young female hedgehog to us from Bransgore, where it was found out in a car park, walking in circles during the day.
She has a swollen right eye, and seems to have some tenderness around its head, but no sign of a wound.
She was dehydrated and is infested with fleas, only the second or third hog with fleas we’ve had in the last year.
She has had subcutaneous fluids to re-hydrate her, some analgesic and has had a bath followed by a topical treatment for the fleas.
She was very stressed, breathing fast and panting with her mouth open so she is now in an indoor box with food and water, in a cool dark room for her to settle down.
We called her Lizzie as it’s the Queens birthday today.
