Hamworthy Hedgehog Rescue

Another victim

Another victim of dehydration systemic collapse.

This young lady came to us yesterday evening, unresponsive and in a state of collapse due to dehydration.

She was noticed as she was being attacked by magpies. The finder picked her up and brought her to us.

She was given subcutaneous fluids and placed on a thermostatic heat pad, but unfortunately the damage was done and her internal organs failed leading to her dying during the night.

I always think it’s especially sad when it is a female, as you wonder how many hoglets she could have given birth to if she had been fit and healthy.
