We had a couple of emergencies before 9 o’clock this morning, one of which has sadly had to be put to sleep.
The first was a female, probably hit by a car, and had several head wounds. It was taken straight to the vets, where x-ray showed multiple skull fractures, including one the that had split the head from front to back, and had split the sinus.
Because of this, it was breathing through a hole in its head. These were non-viable injuries, so the hog had to be put to sleep.
The other is an adult female hog, very underweight with lots of loose baggy skin. Her mouth is all inflamed and she does not appear to be able to eat. She is currently with the vet for assessment.
