This adult hog, 552g, was brought in to us at lunchtime today after being seen lay out during daytime. It had been disturbed from hibernation on Sunday, when the finders neighbour was replacing their fence.
The hog was moved to a safe place, but was seen out today, laying out in daytime. The finder knew this wasn’t right, so contacted us.
The hog was quite cold and dehydrated, so we gave it warm subcutaneous fluids and placed it into one of our ICU’s to warm up.
We’ll do a faecal sample when it provides one, and take things from there.
Many thanks to the finder for dropping the hog off to us, and for their kind donation.
