Max came to us as a juvenile last autumn with head wounds resulting in blindness. Here he is, newly out of hibernation eating his supper, which he seems to be enjoying…

He is otherwise a healthy hog, so will be released into an enclosed garden where he can have an eye kept on him, he will have a hog house, and food and water will be provided.

Sick hedgehogs

In the last two weeks we have had several phone calls to report very sick/injured hedgehogs – which the finders did not pick up and make safe. This meant the injured hedgehogs somehow manage to crawl away and were not found. They would then have to spend often days on end just slowly suffering and dying! If they had been picked up, we could very likely have saved their life, or at least put a humane end to their suffering.

This little chap came in to us Monday after getting himself trapped in an enclosed courtyard with fake grass surface.

He had fallen about 3 – 4 feet down, and there was no way he could have got out on his own. He could have been there since Friday.
