Hamworthy Hedgehog Rescue

This is Chewie, a 692g male that came in to us two days ago after being found wandering around during daytime.

He has an injury to his left eye, which was full of pus, and a healed break to his right hind leg that has left his foot upside down. He wasn’t in particularly good condition, and had a heavy mite infestation.

He was given subcutaneous fluids, spot on for the mites and the eye wound cleaned and treated. He has now had a bath to removed the dead mites and make his skin more comfortable.

Once recovered, he should be able to be released back where he came from.

Dental work

Her lips are still swollen, as you can see in the photos, and her mouth and gums will be sore for a day or two. She had very bad Gingivitis and plaque, which the vet has sorted for her now.

We need to monitor her food intake for a few days, and take her back to the vet if she is not eating properly in the next couple of days.

She has lost a lot of weight because her mouth has been too sore for her to eat, and needs some feeding up.
