Hamworthy Hedgehog Rescue

This poor chap is another hog that has come out of hibernation in very poor condition. He was found out in daylight looking for food. As you can see in the photos, he is very emaciated and dehydrated, he also has a nasty, infected skin condition on his underside.

He has had subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics and some pain relief to help him settle. When he is stabilised we will bath him and treat his skin infection.

We scan all hogs on entry, and we discovered that this is William who came to us in 2019 after being found with a prolapsed bowel that the vets at EVC fixed for him very late one night.

We hope he will recover, having had some high calorie food and continued fluid support and that his infected skin will heal, but he needs to improve his general condition for this to happen.
