This 872g adult male hog came in this morning after being found laying out in the finders garden. He was quite cold and lethargic.
On examination it was evident he had lots of gnawed spikes, and some large scabs. We have seen this many times, and is where rats have gnawed away the spike of hibernating hogs so they can chew on their flesh.
He has had a germicidal bath and had his wounds sprayed with an antiseptic hydrogel solution to fight off infection.
We will check a faecal sample for endoparasites, and treat him accordingly, but it looks like this guy should recover well with some TLC.
