Hamworthy Hedgehog Rescue

Harry Paye Day

We would like to say a massive thankyou to Carole Ellis and Marian Simmonds for their help on Saturday at the Harry Paye Day event at the Quay, we are pleased to say that we raised £134.04!

Thankyou also to Helen Durrant for coming down and saving our information boards from the wind!!

The money will be spent on 6 sacks of Ark Hedgehog which should keep us going on dried food for a little while.

It was really heartening to meet local residents who are feeding, watering and housing the hogs that appear in their gardens. And also those who have been lucky enough to have hoglets in their gardens too! We were able to pass on quite a bit of information about how to encourage and support your local population, and we got a great response from lots of people.

Our next event will be the Hamworthy Park Fete on Saturday 2nd July 11am-3pm, so please come down and say hi!

Thanks for your continued support!

Rant!

This is what happens when you see a hedgehog out in the day, and leave it thinking it’ll be ok, and it’s still there the next day. By the time a call comes in to a rescue, it’s too bloody late.

This young hedgehog MIGHT have been saved had we been called earlier, instead it was all but dead when we arrived, and subsequently died on the way home.

IF YOU FIND A HEDGEHOG IN NEED OF HELP, PLEASE CALL US ON 07587 925 476 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
