Closure of the Rescue

Following a meeting of Hamworthy Hedgehog Rescue Charity Trustees, it has been agreed that for personal/health reasons the rescue will close permanently, and the charity be dissolved.

This has been a very difficult decision to make, but we have no way round it. We shall of course still deal with the sick/injured and orphaned hedgehogs we currently have on site but will not be taking in further hedgehogs from this point onwards. With the current number of hedgehogs still here, and bearing in mind some of them are still tiny babies who need to grow big enough for release, we anticipate this will take up to three months until the final hedgehog is released.

Unless someone/an organisation steps forward to take over the rescue, lock, stock and barrel, on their own premises, we will divide up the rescue’s assets, physical and financial, between other local rescues once the last hedgehog in our care has been released.

Should anyone consider taking over the rescue, please get in touch with me to discuss options, the sooner the better.

All fundraising activity has ceased, and all standing orders/Direct Debits to the rescue have been cancelled with our bank.

We would like to thank all our volunteers, helpers, and supporters for the last 7 years, and hope you will understand and support our decision to close.

Thank you,
Jim & Tracy

  1. We are so sorry to hear that the rescue is closing. Your devotion to caring for our prickly little friends has been exemplary and as wildlife lovers, our personal thanks go to you both. We totally respect your decision to close and it must be devastating for you. We personally will continue to help and support our local hedgehogs in every way that we can. We send you our very best wishes for the future.
