Hogs are  still coming through the doors, some sadly not making it;

1 x adult male hedgehog hit by two cars was brought in last night. Sadly died overnight from his injuries while at the emergency vet.

1 x male hoglet found cold and collapsed at Sandford Woods. Died on journey to us.

1 x juvenile female hedgehog 301g, found cold and collapsed. Very weak, chronically dehydrated and thin. Currently warming up in an ICU and will have subcutaneous fluids shortly.

1 x juvenile female hedgehog 289g, out in daylight for several days until finder managed to catch her. Few ticks and a little cold.

    Do you still need people to have hogs over winter. I’m very interested

      We are able to look after hedgehogs if you still require it?

    Dear Sir/Madam
    We saw the article in the echo regarding fostering hedgehogs over the Winter period.We have a hedgehog wicker home we have wanted to set up for a while and also have a greenhouse/good garden we are animal lovers and I am at home as a house elf!do you still need help?

    I was wandering if you still need help with overwintering your hedgies
    I have a separate large wildlife garden which is very quite no human activity
    apart from me when I am occasionally pottering .
    Please let me know if you would like my help
    Kind regards

      The hedgehogs that we are fostering out are too small to hibernate, so they need to be housed indoors and preferably heated to prevent them from hibernation. If kept outside in the cold they would hibernate, and almost certainly die, not having the reserves of body fat needed to safely see them through hibernation.

      We are always on the lookout for safe locations to release rehabilitated hedgehogs in though, and it’s possibly your garden could be suitable for that.
